Brown University, a private, Ivy League university, is the seventh oldest college in the country. The university's main campus is located across the river from downtown Providence in an enclave of the city known as College Hill. A majority of Brown's 235 separate buildings are comprised of quant Victorian-era homes that were acquired from the neighboring community. The university's four most popular areas of study are Social Sciences, Humanities, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.

Bryant University (hotel is 17 miles from campus)
Located in Smithfield, a picturesque town in northeastern Rhode Island, Bryant University was founded in 1863. Originally known as Bryant College, the private university began a large-scale revitalization project in the mid-1990s. Under the transformation project, a plethora of new facilities were constructed including a new library, athletic center, communications and IT complex, residence hall, interfaith center and upgraded all athletic fields and facilities.

Comprised of four campuses, of which the largest is located in downtown Providence, the Johnson and Wales University system specializes in culinary, hospitality, equine management and education. As the world's largest food service educator, the university is especially renowned for its culinary arts program. However, in recent years it has elevated its stature with burgeoning hospitality and business programs.

Commonly known as New England Tech, this private college offers both Associates and Bachelors of Sciences degrees in 31 programs. Primarily targeted to students who are already in the work-force, the New England Institute of Technology operates on a four-quarter per year program at ten weeks per quarter.

Providence College (hotel is 10.5 miles from campus)
Providence College is the only North American college or university to be administered by the Dominican Order of Friars and offers fifty majors and thirty-four minors. Founded in 1917, the college is located atop the highest point in Providence with its gated 105 acre campus occupying the city's Elmhurst neighborhood atop Smith Hill. The athletics program was a founding member of both the Hockey East and the Big East conferences.

Established as the Rhode Island State Normal School, Rhode Island College is a four-year public institution. For a sizeable portion of the school's history it was known as a teaching college; however, the academic program now include five separate colleges including education, management and nursing.

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) (hotel is 8.5 mile from campus)
The Rhode Island School of Design, or simply RISD to the local community, consistently ranks as the country's top fine arts college. All students are required to complete the three-drawing "hometest" before graduation. In recent years the school has grown closer to Brown University, where the two now share community, academic and social resources in addition to offering joint courses. The school also maintains over 80,000 works of art in the RISD museum.

Located in the southern seaside town of Bristol, Rhode Island atop Mount Hope Bay, Roger Williams University was founded in 1956 in honor Mr. Roger Williams who helped discover and colonize Rhode Island. Today the university is one of the nation's only schools to offer an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and has the only law school in Rhode Island.

Located in the Ochre Point area of the historic Newport, Rhode Island, the campus is routinely praised for its restoration efforts and has been named one of the most beautiful in America. The co-ed, Catholic university was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and enrolls over 2,500 students offering 44 undergraduate majors, 7 master's degree programs and a Ph.D in humanities.

With several campuses throughout the state, the University of Rhode Island operates its main campus in the city of Kingston, located in southwestern Rhode Island. Students can choose from over 80 majors within ten different colleges. Among the most popular majors at URI are Nursing, Communication Studies, Psychology, Kinesiology and Human Development & Family Studies.
